The personal foundation
Born from
lived experience.
A proud Midwestern native and first-generation college graduate, DaVonti’ has dedicated his professional and personal life to exploring the complex systems that shape the experiences of youth, particularly those who are disconnected from key societal institutions like education and the workforce.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, and educated in the Detroit Public Schools and Cleveland Metropolitan School District, DaVonti’s upbringing instilled in him a deep commitment to public education and a passion for addressing the inequities that affect marginalized communities, many of which he experienced firsthand.
Family, education, and purpose
Built through community impact
and public purpose.
As one of seven siblings, DaVonti’ understands the profound impact that family and community can have on a person's trajectory. This personal experience fuels his research, which seeks to uncover the nuanced ways in which systems and policies influence the lived experiences of urban and rural youth, as well as the communities they reside in.
His work is not just an academic pursuit; it is a mission driven by lived experience and a desire to create environments where all young people can thrive.
